Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics

The Department of Economics, Accounting, and Business at Muskingum University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics. This renewable-term faculty position offers an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and student-centered academic environment. 

We seek a dynamic and engaging educator to teach undergraduate courses such as:

  • Money and Banking
  • Corporate Finance
  • Managerial Finance
  • Investments
  • Security Analysis and Portfolio Management
  • Microeconomics

The ideal candidate will foster student learning through innovative teaching methods and provide mentorship to support students' academic and professional growth.

  • Teaching: Develop and deliver engaging course materials that encourage critical thinking and prepare students for success and professional advancement in finance and economics fields.
  • Advising: Guide students in course selection, degree planning, and career exploration and growth, while fostering their intellectual, professional, and personal development.
  • Service: Actively participate in departmental initiatives, curriculum development, student recruitment, and university committees. Build relationships with alumni, industry professionals, and community stakeholders to create partnerships and internship opportunities.

Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred. Master's-prepared candidates with significant industry and/or teaching experience will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching; experience in teaching adult learners and using hybrid and online learning formats is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to fostering collaboration and a supportive learning environment.
  • A willingness to participate in service and scholarly activities aligned with the university's mission and goals.

Muskingum is a comprehensive university with a strong liberal arts tradition located just seventy miles east of Columbus, Ohio, in the village of New Concord. The university's total undergraduate, graduate, and adult-learner student population is approximately 2,500.
