Graduate Assistant - Strength and Conditioning

Muskingum University invites applications for a Graduate Assistant in Strength and Conditioning.  This position is responsible for assisting in the overall strength and conditioning of Muskingum University's 25 athletic programs. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the development and implementation of training plans for the Strength and Conditioning program.   
  • Provide individualized and sport-specific training plans, as assigned by the Strength and Conditioning Coach. 
  • Assist with supervision of training plans to ensure proper technique, safety, and program effectiveness.
  • Maintain all weight room facilities and equipment, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized environment.
  • Work collaboratively with athletic training staff.
  • Assist with educating student-athletes on nutrition, recovery, injury prevention, and performance enhancement.  
  • Assist with monitoring and assessing progress of student-athletes by providing regular feedback about training programs.   
  • Perform secondary duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or their designee. 
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Muskingum staff to integrate efforts and create program success.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Undergraduate degree. 
  • Acceptance or ability to be accepted into Muskingum University Graduate Program. 
  • Desire to coach within the NCAA Division III philosophy and OAC and Muskingum guidelines. 
  • Ability to collaborate and participate as an active member of the athletic department and the University community. 
  • Good organizational and management skills. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
