Administrative & Serials Assistant

Muskingum University Library is seeking a full-time Administrative & Serials Assistant.

FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVE OF THIS POSITION:

Responsible for processing and maintaining the Government Documents collection as well as the periodical collection, both in print and electronic forms.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process and maintain all Government Documents, following government requirements and Sierra processes
    • Maintain the physical collection
    • Resolve any problems regarding Government Documents
  • Process and maintain all Journals and Serials
    • Maintain the holdings list
    • Weeding of the collection, in conjunction with the Director
    • Workflow design
  • Opening the library
  • Cover Welcome Center desk when needed
  • Supervise students workers assigned to Government Documents and Serials/Journals
  • Bookkeeping
    • Process invoices
    • Check all library accounts against budget every week
    • Provide monthly budget reports for the Director
    • Reconcile and record cash register transactions
    • Make deposits to business office as necessary
  • Maintain and order office supplies
  • Open and distribute mail
  • Process fax and lamination requests from patrons

Must have excellent computer skills such as Excel, Word and online searching. Associate degree preferred.
