Undergraduate Scholarships and Awards of Circumstance for Returning Students

Academic Scholarships

Students are required to maintain certain cumulative GPAs in order to ensure automatic renewal of  scholarships. Please read the Scholarship & Award Provisions so that you are aware of all requirements for keeping your scholarships.

Endowed Departmental Scholarships

Awarded to enrolled students as part of Scholarship Recognition Day held in the spring of each year. Students are selected by faculty in academic departments for awards funded by donors to Muskingum. See individual academic departments for details on scholarships offered.

External Scholarships

Students are responsible for letting Student Financial Services know of any External Scholarships they are receiving. The scholarships must be counted as part of their financial aid and may affect their eligibility for work-study, subsidized loans and in some cases grants or other scholarships. Students may use the External Scholarship Form to report scholarships they are receiving.

 

Total Award Maximums and Limits

Limitations are placed on the total amount of Muskingum-funded non-need based assistance which a student may receive. Please read the Scholarship & Award Provisions for more information on these limits.

Science Awards

Science Division Scholarship are directed toward outstanding students pursuing a degree in the natural and physical sciences. Selection of recipients is made by the Science Division. Visit the Science Division Scholarship Application.

Performance Awards

Muskingum offers several scholarships to students interested in participating or majoring in the following areas. Performance awards are determined by the respective academic departments. Additional information on these scholarships and applications can be found by clicking on the links below:

All awards are renewable dependent upon maintenance of a specified grade-point average and participation in departmental activities.

Muskingum Awards

Eligibility is determined at the time of acceptance and amounts are determined by the admission office.

Access Awards
Special awards to selected entering students with exceptional financial need and/or to those who represent
underserved populations. *Available to Students entering before Fall of 2019.

Horizon Awards
Awarded to selected students based on involvement, achievement, and leadership in multiple areas.

Muskie Awards
Automatically awarded to students who meet defined GPA and ACT/SAT standards, but who do not qualify for academic scholarships.

Awards of Circumstance

Muskingum offers certain automatic Awards of Circumstance to students who meet the defined conditions for the award. Financial need is not a consideration, but the awards are included as part of the financial aid package for students demonstrating need.

  • Legacy Grants  Up to $3,000 per year awarded to students having one of the following Legacy connections:
    The student must be the dependent child, grandchild or sibling of a former Muskingum University student who has completed at least two years/four semesters at Muskingum University or be the sibling of a current Muskingum University student who is a dependent of the same parents.

    Other cases where an immediate family relationship with a current Muskingum student or Alumnus exist (such as: step-parent,step-sibling) may also be approved by the Financial Aid Committee.

    Students who qualify should complete the Legacy Grant information form.

 

General Motors EEOC Scholarship

Awarded to minority students and female dependents of GM employees. A 2.8 cumulative GPA is required for renewal of the scholarship. Up to $1,000.

Presbyterian Grants

up to $1,000 per year
Automatically awarded to communicant members of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Students who qualify should complete the Presbyterian Grant information sheet.
