Great Tie, Governor DeWine!

ICYMI: Ohio Governor Mike DeWine sported a Muskingum University necktie during his daily press conference on April 28! 
 
According to his Twitter account, Gov. DeWine said:

“I’ve been getting a lot of questions about my ties lately.  (I don’t usually get questions about my clothes!) I’ve been trying to wear a different tie each day from a different College or University in #Ohio.”

 Muskingum’s Office of Institutional Advancement made sure our school colors were in his queue!

Muskingum Counseling Services Offers Teletherapy; Staff Undergoes Training to Support Students

As Muskingum University students transitioned to learning remotely due to the COVID-19 shutdown, Counseling Services staff prioritized finding the best ways to remain in contact with students to continue providing a therapeutic outlet. While daily emails, an increased social media presence, and mental health checklist shares kept the connection strong, director of Counseling Tracy Bugglin wanted to extend the strong personal bond with students from a distance – enter telecounseling services.

Withdrawal from the University

Payton Bevard ’18 and Madee Stones ‘18: On the Frontlines of CCU Patient Care

Payton Bevard and Madee Stones both earned their Muskingum nursing degrees in 2018 and now serve on the frontlines of patient care in the Genesis Hospital-Zanesville Critical Care Unit.


“We care for patients who are battling a wide variety of serious health issues in the CCU, so the pace of our work is always very rapid and intensely focused,” Payton said.  ”Every day is different, and we use the full range of our nursing skills,” Madee added.

Ramone Davenport ’98: Hand-Delivering Diplomas and Dreams to At-Risk Youth

As Superintendent of Dohn Community High School in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ramone Davenport provides a value-driven education for at-risk youth. 

“Often our students are those that society has given up on and we provide them with a second chance academically,” Mr. Davenport explains. “We offer a mix of on-line and face-to-face instruction in order to meet our students’ varied learning needs,  family situations, and life responsibilities.  When the COVID-19 crisis hit, we were able to move to fully online instruction literally overnight.”
