About the Library

Roberta A. Smith University Library is a member of OPAL (Ohio Private Academic Libraries) and OhioLINK. Through these consortial memberships, students and faculty have borrowing privileges at 121 libraries in Ohio including public universities, private colleges, community colleges, and the State Library of Ohio. Borrowing privileges are also available from select public libraries via SearchOhio. The Library is the Federal Depository Library for Ohio's 6th Congressional District and receives electronic government publications from the United States federal government and the state of Ohio. The Library also houses the University’s archives and special collections.

The Library provides access to 55 million books; millions of electronic articles; 12,000 electronic journals; over 300 databases; 500,000 e-books; thousands of images, videos and sounds; and 12,000 theses and dissertations from Ohio students.

Smith University Library is a dynamic partner in satisfying the information needs for the 21st Century campus by offering quality resources and instruction, by providing virtual and in-person services, and by creating an environment that is conducive to learning, exploration and interaction.

Driving Directions

General driving directions to New Concord can be found on the University's Maps and Directions page. For visitor parking: Turn into the main entrance to Muskingum University (College Drive) from Main Street. Go up the hill, past College Drive Presbyterian Church. At the top of the hill, turn left in front of Brown Chapel. Visitor parking is available in front of Brown Chapel and Montgomery Hall.
