Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Muskingum is a member of the OhioLINK Electronic Theses and Dissertations Center (ETD). Submissions to the ETD are also made to ProQuest Dissertation Center.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for submission to OhioLINK’s ETD Theses and Dissertations must meet the following requirements

  • PDF file includes full text (file size is limited to 2 GB)
  • PDF accessibility permission flag is checked
  • Text language of the PDF is specified
  • Figures, images, tables include alternative text
    • Table summaries are completed. 
      • A summary is a brief description of how the data is organized in the table.
        • Include how many columns and how many rows include the header row or column (depending on how your table is set up) in the summary description. 
    • Include the type of chart/graph (e.g., bar, bell, line, scatter plot, etc.).    
  • PDF includes a title

Accessibility

There are a variety of ways to make your document accessible, we do not endorse any one over another, but rather, seek to give you options:

No auto generated (AI) text should used to describe images, graphs, tables or other materials requiring alternative text. 

Submission step-by-step instructions (simplified)

  1. You have to have either successfully defended your dissertation or have the support of advisor 
  2. Go to OhioLink ETD (Electronic Theses and Dissertations) submission site
    1. Select “New User Register Here!”
  3. Create a user ID and password
    1. With your user ID/password, you can access the ETD center to review your document submission pages as often as necessary until you submit your final document.
    2. Your draft is maintained on the site for up to 30 days. After 30 days, drafts are automatically purged.
  4. Select “submitter/Student Account” and the page will update with a contact information page
    1. Complete the form, at the bottom of the page, click on “save and continue”
    2. Only those fields with red asterisks are required
  5. You will receive an email to the address provided to set up a password 
  6. Navigate back to the OhioLINK ETD Center website and log in using the email address you provided as the username and the password you just created
    1. Click Login
  7. Once logged in, click on the red “Submit a new ETD” button
  8. Complete each step submission form, clicking “save and continue” when prompted
    1. You will not be able to proceed to the next page until each section has been completed
  9. Before you submit your Dissertation, you will have a chance to review.
    1. You will not be able to submit unless all sections for submission have been completed
