Open Rank Position in Exercise Science

The Department of Exercise and Health Science at Muskingum University invites applications for an open rank position in exercise science, beginning fall 2024.  The successful candidate will work closely with faculty and students in Muskingum’s growing programs in exercise science, health and fitness, public health, and pre-medical profession specialties.  In fall 2022, the University opened the new Henry D. Bullock Health and Wellness Complex, which is equipped with state-of-the art diagnostic and fitness technology and equipment and provides extraordinary opportunities for applied experiential learning in wellness programming and community partnerships.

Muskingum's full-time undergraduate tuition is among the lowest of comparable private colleges in Ohio. Muskingum strives to serve students – 34% of whom are first-generation, 49% of whom receive PELL financial aid – by making learning accessible and affordable. In this position, the faculty member will be responsible for teaching a variety of exercise science courses and associated laboratory instruction, advising students on coursework and career options, and mentoring experiential learning.  In addition, the successful candidate will join departmental colleagues in ongoing curriculum development and assessment, in developing community partnerships for experiential learning opportunities, and in supporting the recruitment and retention of students.  

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Doctoral degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field is preferred; ABD status and within one year of completion or master’s degree and significant teaching experience will be considered.
  • Willingness to work toward professional-level certification(s), such as NSCA-CSCS or ACSM-EP, CEP or CPT, as appropriate.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
