WMCO 90.7 FM, Muskingum University’s radio station, was one of the 2023 Spirit of College Radio Award winners for the second year in a row. The Spirit of College Radio Awards are presented by the College Radio Foundation in recognition of truly outstanding and spirited efforts made by college radio stations on World College Radio Day, which occurred on Oct. 6.
The Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds will present “Love and Gershwin” on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. in Muskingum University’s Brown Chapel. The concert intertwines Valentine’s Day and a tribute to American composer George Gershwin.
Muskingum University is joining with family and friends in celebrating the life of Dr. Arthur J. De Jong, who passed away at age 89 on Jan. 26, 2024. From 1978-1987, he served as President of the University, then known as Muskingum College, immediately preceding Samuel W. Speck, Jr. ’59 in the role.
Muskingum trustee James (Jim) W. Schmotter ’69 addressed the bachelor’s and master’s degree graduates at the University’s Dec. 8, 2023, commencement. He was honored with a Doctor of Humane Letters degree during the ceremony.
He congratulated the graduates on their achievement and reminded them that “Commencement” both celebrates the accomplishments of the past and marks the beginning of the future. His remarks focused on the graduates’ preparation for their future.
