Margy Mae (Steffler) King, 87, passed away on July 16, 2026, at St. Joseph's hospital in Lexington, KY. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 4 pm at the Ashton Grove Senior Living chapel in Georgetown, KY.

Born on January 27, 1939, in Ellwood City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Edna Steffler. Margy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1956 and Muskingum College in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Later she earned her Master of Education from Clarion University. She inspired many generations of students in over thirty years of teaching, with most of those years at C.G. Johnson Elementary in Reynoldsville, PA. She was known for her hard work, respect, kindness and discipline.

Margy met the love of her life, Wayne King, in high school and they were married in August of 1958, a marriage of nearly 68 years. Through highs and lows, thick and thin, their love and devotion for each other was an example to her children and grandchildren on how to love well.

With a heart full of love, Margy was a wonderful mother to her three children. She was the rock and glue that held everyone together. Her quiet strength, gentle spirit, unwavering love, and steady presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

After her retirement in 2000, Margy and Wayne moved to Dandridge, TN on the shores of Lake Douglas where they finally had their dream cabin on a lake. The years they spent there were filled with treasured memories, laughter, and lasting friendships.

For the past 19 winters, they also enjoyed time on their beloved St. George Island, FL. They loved long walks on the beach, going out to eat and spending time with friends, old and new.

Margy's deep Christian faith guided her throughout her life. She was an active member and ruling elder of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and lived her faith through kindness, compassion and service to others. An avid reader, her favorite books were mysteries and anyone who is lucky enough to own one of her embroidered pieces owns a treasure.

Margy is survived by her husband, Wayne King; her children Tamy (Paul) Teeter of Georgetown, KY; Betsy (Keith) Logan of Hendersonville, NC; Bob (Karen) King of Amelia Island, FL; nine beloved grandchildren and seven cherished great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends from Reynoldsville, Dandridge, St. George Island and Georgetown, KY.
