Muskingum Celebrates December Commencement

Muskingum University celebrated Commencement on Dec. 8, 2023, in the Steele Center. University trustee James (Jim) W. Schmotter ’69 addressed the bachelor’s and master’s degree graduates and was honored with a Doctor of Humane Letters degree during the ceremony.

Student-Athletes Earn Accolades

Academic and athletic accolades were recently awarded to Muskingum University student-athletes and coaches from conference and national sports associations.

YouthFests Welcome High School Musicians to Campus

Muskingum University recently welcomed more than 150 regional high school musicians to campus for two YouthFest musical events, continuing a more than 30-year tradition of providing talented students with an opportunity to further develop their musical skills.

YouthFest participants are nominated by their high school music directors. While on campus, they experience rehearsals, master classes, and workshops with Muskingum music faculty and students. The experience concludes with a performance by the YouthFest musicians.

Students Participate in International Online Conference

Four Muskingum University students participated in an International Online Conference for Young Scientists and Scholars.

Entitled “The North Atlantic Alliance Faces New Challenges,” the Dec. 2, 2023, conference was held entirely online.

It was sponsored by Fulbright Ukraine, Vasyl Stefanik Precarpathian State University, the US Institute for International Education, the University of Warsaw, and the University of Wroclaw.

Leaders of the Line Participate in Professional Skills Development Dinner

The Leaders of the Line is the latest group of Muskingum University students to participate in the longstanding tradition of a Professional Skills Development dinner.

A partnership of the Impact Center and the Alumni Office, these dinners help guide students as they prepare to interview and have professional meetings over meals, provide opportunities to network with alumni, and help build professional skills for social settings.

Faculty Brown Bag Series

Muskingum University faculty have the unique opportunity to share their work in their professional fields with each other through a Brown Bag series each semester.

Muskies Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day With Service

As of Jan. 1, 2024, Muskingum University added Martin Luther King Jr. Day as an observed University holiday. Classes are not scheduled and offices are closed.

While traditionally classes were not held on this holiday to allow students to participate in service-learning projects organized by the University, the designation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day as an observed University holiday expands these opportunities to employees.
