Seventeen members of the extended Montgomery family traveled from across the country to celebrate the life and legacy of Mollie Montgomery ’60 (1937-2023), who grew up on campus.
Mollie was the only child of Ruth Kelley Montgomery and Robert “Doc Bob” Montgomery, who was Muskingum’s longest serving President (1932-1962). She was the granddaughter of J. Knox Montgomery, who established the University’s footprint during his Presidency (1904-1931).
Muskingum University’s Dr. Barbara Hansen, Dave Longaberger Professor of Teaching and Learning and Distinguished Professor of Education, was honored with the 2023 Ohio Council for Professors of Educational Leadership (OCPEA) Engler Award for Exemplary Leadership.
Dr. Hansen has been teaching Muskingum undergraduate and graduate students for the past 15 years. She previously taught English Language Arts to middle school and high school students and served in principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent positions.

Muskingum University Coach, Athletic Director, and Faculty Member Ed Sherman '36 (1912-2009) was a founding father of the nationwide division structure for collegiate athletics.
NCAA Division III celebrated its 50th Anniversary on August 6, 2023, the result of Coach Sherman’s enduring impact.
Muskingum University’s Finney Hall reopened for student residency for the 2023 Fall Semester, following a year-long interior renovation project to better meet student needs. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house was held on August 11.

The building’s heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical systems were all updated.
Muskingum University’s 101st Homecoming celebration will be held on October 13-15, 2023. The full weekend of events offers multiple opportunities for reconnecting and reminiscing with fellow Muskies.
The weekend kicks off on Friday with the President’s Luncheon for the 50th Reunion Class of 1973.
Throughout the month of August, students arrived on campus to prepare for the start of the new semester and enjoy opportunities to make new friends and explore the community.
Room Preview day on August 4 welcomed the incoming class of 2027. They visited their residence hall rooms, met their roommates, and made plans for their up-coming move-in day.
