Muskingum University Education Students Race to Support Literacy

Muskingum University education students are racing to support dyslexia awareness on Thursday, Oct. 7 in the 2021 Dyslexia Dash Virtual 5K Run/Walk.

“We encourage everyone to walk with us to show an overwhelming support of literacy,” said Jolie Black, a senior early childhood/special education major. “So many young students struggle with reading, and this is a just fun way to come together as a community to say we want to make a difference.”

Leave of Absence/Withdrawal from the University

Leave of Absence 

A leave of absence may be granted to a student who wishes/needs to interrupt, but not permanently discontinue, enrollment at Muskingum University.  A student may take a leave of absence for up to two consecutive semesters.  Students must complete the Leave of Absence/Withdrawal Form with a representative of the Provost Office.

Muskingum University Awarded USDOL Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities Initiative Grant

Muskingum University was awarded over $970,000 for a Workforce Opportunity for a Rural Communities Initiative grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. The University was one of 11 Appalachian Regional Commission recipients.

The WORC Initiative funds projects that invest in education, training, and career support services. It provides resources for local and regional workforce development solutions and for community partnerships to promote new, sustainable job opportunities.

Academic Integrity

Academic Dishonesty, and Plagiarism

Plagiarism, cheating, and other forms of academic dishonesty are serious offenses at Muskingum University, and the instructors have the prerogative of invoking the severest penalty for an initial offense. Each department is responsible for developing its definition of plagiarism, but in general, plagiarism is the verbal, written, graphic, or three-dimensional presentation of borrowed material without citing its source. Students must cite all quotations, paraphrases, borrowed ideas, models, information, or organization of material.

Muskingum University continues to be a top performer among Ohio universities in the U.S. News & World Report 2022 rankings for the Regional Midwest. The University ranked 2nd among Ohio universities in Best Value Schools and 2nd among Ohio universities in Top Performers in Social Mobility.
