Empowering Adult Learners with Summer Opportunities
At Muskingum, education doesn’t just serve a moment, it supports a lifetime of growth. Whether finishing a degree, advancing a career, or gaining new credentials, Muskingum meets adult learners where they are and helps them get where they want to go.
Muskingum offers a wide range of learning opportunities, and summer is a strategic time to make progress. With flexible, online, and accelerated programs, adult students can move forward without pressing pause on their lives.
This summer, the Office of Graduate Business and Organizational Leadership launched its first standalone Project Management course, an eight-week, fully online offering for professionals across industries. The course prepared students to sit for the Certified Associate in Project Management® (CAPM®) exam.
“Project Management has long been a part of several of our graduate programs—like the Master of Organizational Leadership, Master of Business Administration, and Principal Licensure. But we have noticed growing interest from students outside those programs who still wanted to build this valuable skill,” said Executive Director of Graduate Business and Organizational Leadership, Dr. Robert McManus.
The course received strong feedback and will return next summer, demonstrating how Muskingum continues to meet emerging workforce needs by offering targeted, in-demand training for professionals across fields.
Summer is a natural time for educators to grow their credentials, and Muskingum’s Graduate Teacher Education programs are designed to help them do just that. From endorsements and continuing education to leadership licensures, programs are fully online, flexible, and designed to align with the rhythm of the academic year.
Among the most popular summer offerings is the Jumpstart program, which is open to both teachers and non-teachers and provides a pathway to earn an Intervention Specialist license, helping meet the growing need for special education professionals.
Educators can also pursue endorsements in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), Reading Endorsement, Talented and Gifted, and more, as well as begin coursework toward Educational Leadership licensure, including principal and superintendent pathways.
“Summer break gives teachers the opportunity to earn an additional licensure, start a master’s degree, or renew their license with continuing education hours. Our flexible, online courses are designed to be completed in time for teachers to return to their classrooms in the fall,” said Associate Vice President of Graduate and Adult Learning, Bonnie Callahan.
For Muskingum undergraduates, summer is an ideal opportunity to catch up, stay on track, or get ahead. The University offers fully online courses in popular subjects, ideal for completing general education requirements or lightening the load for fall or spring.
Muskingum’s programs are designed for real life, with flexibility to fit around work, family, and long-term goals. That same mission carries into summer, with courses that are timely, targeted, and responsive to adult learners’ needs.
Whether you’re just starting your journey, returning to school, or taking the next step in your career, Muskingum is here to help you move forward, with programs that grow alongside you.
Summer is just one chapter in that story.
