Online RN to BSN Nursing

FAQS

ADMISSION & ELIGIBILITY

Who can apply to the RN-to-BSN program?

Applicants must hold an RN license and have completed an ADN or diploma in nursing. Students may begin before passing the NCLEX, but an active license is required before graduation.

Can out-of-state students enroll?

Yes. Muskingum participates in NC-SARA, allowing most out-of-state RNs to enroll. Both the student and preceptor must be licensed in the state of practice.

TRANSFER & PROGRAM STRUCTURE

How many credits transfer to the RN-to-BSN?

We offer generous RN-to-BSN transfer credit for both ADN and diploma-prepared RNs.

  • Diploma-prepared registered nurses receive a 64-credit transfer block toward the BSN.
  • ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) graduates receive course-by-course credit, with the exact number of transferable credits confirmed through a free transcript evaluation.

This evaluation provides a clear understanding of how your previous nursing coursework applies to the RN-to-BSN degree.

How is the program structured?

This program is 100% online, offered in five 8-week sessions throughout the year (fall, spring, and summer semesters). Students may enroll in any term and go full- or part-time.

How long does the RN-to-BSN take online?

Most students finish in 12–18 months, depending on transfer credits and course load. Some complete in as little as 12 months.

Biomedical Ethics, statistics, and electives (if needed).
