Cultural Immersion
Cultural immersion happens at many different levels and what is impactful for one person may not be as impactful to another. We offer a sliding scale of immersion opportunities which include an online Intercultural Awareness Micro-Credential, study abroad/away options of varying time-lengths and intensity, and cultural adjustment programs for international students studying in the USA.
Intercultural Awareness Micro-Credential: email vsmith@muskingum.edu to enroll in the Canvas course which is online, self-paced and typically takes 6-8 hours to complete.
Study Abroad: Visit the Study Abroad page to see just how global the Muskingum campus is and the plethora of opportunities available to students.
International Student Services: Visit the International Programs website to get connected to CEI's programs and services geared towards global students.
Inclusion
The Cultural Engagement and Inclusion (CEI) Office is pleased to be able to offer support and resources to a variety of student populations such as: commuter students, first-generation students, Pell-Grant recipients, students that are also caregivers, and online students to name a few. We also work closely with other campus offices to assist students that have learning differences, student-athletes, various religious or faith based beliefs, and services for Veterans and their families. It can be hard to balance the demands of an academic schedule with unique life situations and Muskingum wants to support you!
The resources below are to help students navigate their experiences as they grow in skills and confidence to be professionally successful and a contributing member of society.
- Religious Life -facilitated by Chaplain Derek Wadlington, Muskingum University is rooted in its Presbyterian-affiliation and supports all faith walks.
- Veteran's Services
Veteran's Lounge is located in the Bottom of Brown Chapel. Veteran's Services are facilitated by Chaplain Derek Wadlington. - Student Accessibility Services and Accessibility Map.
- Bottom of Brown (BOB)- webpage coming late Summer 2025
The Bottom of Brown (BOB) Chapel has emerged as an inclusionary space for many resources serving the campus community. These services include a commuter student lounge, a clothing/sundries closet, a food pantry, a small chapel and interfaith room, a lactation room, and a Veteran's lounge. There are several offices that are working together on these projects including the Office of Cultural Engagement & Inclusion, the Student Health Center, and the Chaplain.
