Civic Engagement
Civic engagement provides opportunities for students to become active community members who positively impact the world around them.
Through civic engagement, students participate in activities of personal and public concern that are both individually life enriching and socially beneficial to the community. Students work to make a difference in the civic life of a community and develop the combination of knowledge, skills, values, and motivation to make that difference. Examples of skills developed through civic engagement include:
- Communicating effectively with others
- Collaborating with teams and demonstrating leadership skills
- Ethical decision making
- Recognizing and respecting human differences
Students can also apply to be part of the John and Annie Glenn Public Service Fellows program, which focuses on transforming participants into active citizens and public servants by following the three pillars of education, empowerment, and engagement.
