Muskingum University Marching Band
Music. Spirit. Tradition.
About the Marching Muskies
Marching band is coming back to Muskingum! Beginning in Fall 2027, the Marching Muskies will bring energy, tradition, and school spirit to athletic events.
For many student musicians, marching band is a defining part of high school: the friendships, rehearsals, and the thrill of a halftime show. The Marching Muskies give students of all majors a way to keep that experience going in college.
The Marching Muskies is part of the Department of Music's instrumental program, alongside our concert and chamber ensembles. Members can continue performing at a high level while pursuing any major the University offers.
Performances
Fall: The Marching Muskies perform at every home football game with music that keeps the crowd on its feet.
Spring: The band continues as a pep band at selected athletic events, bringing that same game-day energy indoors.
Upcoming performances will be posted here and on the Muskingum Athletics website as the inaugural season approaches.
Who Can Join
Marching Muskies is open to students in any major. You don't need to study music to march. Whether you're headed into nursing, business, education, the sciences, the humanities, or music, there's a place for you in the band.
Why March at Muskingum
- Keep playing. Continue the instrument and the activity you love, alongside the degree you came for.
- Belong. Find your people on day one. Band is a built-in community of friends who share your schedule and your sense of fun.
- Be at the center of game day. Few seats are better than the one in the stands with the band.
- Scholarships. Participation scholarships of $1000 per year are awarded to members of Marching Muskies, and these scholarships can be stacked with one other core ensemble scholarship or the $3000 Music Major scholarship. Be rewarded for doing the things you love!
Leadership
The University is currently hiring a Director of Marching Band, who will lead recruiting efforts and prepare the band for its first season. While the search is underway, prospective students and others interested in learning more about the Marching Muskies are encouraged to contact Daniel Strychacz, Assistant Professor of Music and Department Chair, at 740-826-8104 or dstrycha@muskingum.edu.
