Before the Fall Semester Began…
Move-In Weekend

Throughout the month of August, students arrived on campus to prepare for the start of the new semester and enjoy opportunities to make new friends and explore the community.

Room Preview day on August 4 welcomed the incoming class of 2027. They visited their residence hall rooms, met their roommates, and made plans for their up-coming move-in day.

On August 8, the first groups of students began to return to campus, led by the Resident Assistants and the Football team. Additional fall sports teams soon joined them, as did first-year PLUS program students who began their transition to college with the LEAP program.

International students arrived on campus the following week. As part of their Orientation Activities, the group took a field trip to Yoder Amish Farm and the Farm at Walnut Creek. Upper-class students who were serving as Welcome Weekend Coordinators and Leaders moved in that week as well.

Faculty also returned to campus on August 14 for their opening week of planning for the semester together, with events including New Faculty Orientation and the annual Fall Faculty Conference.

On August 18, the entering Class of 2027 moved into the residence halls and were officially welcomed to Muskingum with Opening Convocation.

During the fun-filled Welcome Weekend that followed, students enjoyed outdoor Quad Mania events including an ice cream truck, yard games, DJ, paint war, slip and slide, water games, and inflatables. The scavenger hunt app Goosechase provided opportunities to explore campus and make new friends, and the later evening hours brought Dueling Pianos and a Race to Plant Your Roots with a Mario Kart Tournament. On Sunday afternoon, students chose excursions to the New Concord Pool, Salt Fork, or Walmart.
