Muskingum University Announces New Global Studies Degree Program
Global Studies

Muskingum University launches undergraduate degree program in Global Studies beginning Fall 2023 semester. This unique program prepares students for living and working in a global context while emphasizing experiential learning and career readiness. The Global Studies program offers opportunities for students to study various aspects of world cultures in alignment with their interests.

Global Studies features three different career tracks, including International Business, Global Organizations and Security, and Global Humanities. The International Business track includes economics, business, and history; the Global Organizations and Security track focuses on health and political science; and the Global Humanities track features language-learning, the arts, and history. All tracks are rooted in a foundation, created through student choice, of courses in language, history, or political science.

The mission of the Global Studies program at Muskingum University is to educate students in the liberal arts tradition by fostering an investigation of the foundations, complexities, and relevance of international issues; developing the skills needed to achieve success and fulfillment in their chosen career paths; and facilitating their growth into informed and engaged global citizens.

The program includes high impact global experiences with flexible options including study abroad, Washington semester, Model UN, performance leadership, or internships. Global internships include opportunities such as a year-long teaching assistantship at our partner institution, Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha. The program also features a senior capstone reflection and presentation on students’ global high impact experience.
