Hasseler has announced her plans to retire at the conclusion of the 2025-26 academic year, closing a decade of transformative leadership marked by institutional growth, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to student access and success.

“It has been the greatest privilege of my professional life to serve as president of Muskingum University,” President Hasseler said. “I am incredibly proud of all we have accomplished together—and even more excited about the strong foundation we’ve built for the University’s next era of impact.”

During her tenure, President Hasseler has led Muskingum through a period of strategic advancement, significantly expanding the University’s regional influence and enhancing its capacity to serve a diverse and evolving student population. Under her leadership, Muskingum prioritized affordability, innovation, and workforce alignment in ways that have positioned the University for a dynamic future.

Through strengthened partnerships with local businesses, school districts, and community organizations, the University has amplified its role as a regional catalyst for economic and social vitality. Under Hasseler’s leadership, the university has secured major grant funding to expand scholarships, career development programs, and technology infrastructure, while also launching new degree programs that directly respond to the needs of today’s learners and tomorrow’s workforce.

One of the many highlights of her presidency was the opening of the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex, a multi-use, academic, athletic, and recreational facility that serves both the campus and the broader community. In addition, Muskingum has significantly enhanced its STEM offerings, expanded programs for adult and graduate learners, and reinforced its long-standing mission of educational access and opportunity.

“Muskingum has always been a driver of opportunity and innovation,” said Hasseler. “Our graduates are leaders in classrooms, clinics, boardrooms, and communities across Ohio and beyond. I am confident that the University is on a strong trajectory for continued growth and regional leadership in the years ahead.”

The Muskingum University Board of Trustees will launch a national search for the University’s next president. “President Hasseler has led with vision, integrity, and a deep belief in the transformative power of higher education,” said Board Chair Cheryl Carpenter. “She will leave the University positioned for a vibrant and dynamic future, and we remain profoundly grateful for her extraordinary leadership.”

President Hasseler will serve in her role through the upcoming academic year, continuing to advance key institutional priorities and working closely with the Board to ensure a seamless transition.
