Dr. Debu Purohit '83, the Ford Motor Company Distinguished Professor of Business Administration and the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, delivered the keynote address and received an honorary Muskingum Doctor of Humane Letters degree during the ceremony.

Dr.  Purohit noted that 40 years ago, he spoke to his own graduating class at Muskingum. “Life is lived forward, but it is only understood backwards,” he said. “My Muskingum professors continue to have an effect on how I view the world and what I do in the world. They gave me the courage to open doors – which is essential for living a meaningful life.”

The Class of 2023 celebration weekend began on Friday May 5 with a Champagne Toast and Dessert Bar, held on the Mezzanine of the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex. President Susan S. Hasseler toasted the graduates on behalf of the University’s community of educators.
