Brewed Awakenings: Student Community and Leadership
Brewed Awakenings

Muskingum University’s Brewed Awakenings student-run coffeehouse offers weekly opportunities for students to engage with each other and build community, while learning more about the wide variety of organizations across campus.

Once known on campus as Kelley Coffee House, Brewed Awakenings takes place every Thursday evening during the semester in the Chess Center. The free coffee shop offerings include hot and iced coffees, teas, and other refreshers, along with flavored creamers and syrups, and light snacks.

Each week, a different student organization presents a program, providing opportunities to promote the organization while engaging and entertaining attendees. Events during 2023-2024 have included Phi Kappa Tau’s annual “Muskies Got Talent,”  Chi Alpha Nu’s Pumpkin Painting, karaoke with Delta Gamma Theta, the Black Student Union’s Bonfire and Karaoke night, the History Club’s Haunted History of Halloween, the World Language Club’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Women Empowerment Club’s celebration of Women’s History Month, the Impact Center’s Wheel of Fortune night, and multiple, ever-popular, themed bingo nights.

Brewed Awakenings’ operations are led by a team of students supervised by Director of Student Engagement Sarah Dailey and are funded in partnership with Student Senate. The team members develop their skills in event promotion and management, budgeting, and efficiently sourcing and managing supplies.
