Presidential Search

Dear Muskingum Community:

I’m writing you with news about the search for our next president.

The recruitment phase of our search is well underway with more than a month left before the deadline for expressing interest in the position. We have already received a goodly number of applications. The senior consultants working with us report that every day they are having conversations with competitive candidates from across the country. They are hearing from experienced deans, provosts, and vice presidents who have strong experience in fund-raising, innovation, strategic management, and partnership building. They also are talking with leaders from outside the academy, including businesspeople and directors of nonprofit organizations.

I want to pass along some of the reasons applicants and potential applicants have given in expressing their interest in Muskingum. They especially value: 

• Our faculty and staff’s devotion to our students and our commitment to access. Muskingum's reputation for creating social mobility among its graduates is particularly lauded.
• The diverse student body we attract to our university and our dedication to educating students of all ages, learning differences, and racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. 
• The University's creativity and ability to adapt in this time of enormous challenge to higher education.
• Muskingum's reputation for leadership and involvement in its surrounding communities.
