Health Science (MAP)

The Health Science major is designed for allied health professionals with an Associate of Science (AS) degree who wish to obtain a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in preparation for attending a science-based graduate program.

The major focuses primarily on the physical and natural sciences. Although students from a variety of allied health backgrounds select this major, most are preparing to attend graduate programs in Physician Assistant, Pathologist Assistant, Radiologist Assistant, Master in Occupational Therapy or a Doctorate in Physical Therapy

Foundational Core Requirements (9 Credit Hours)

  • BIOL 346 Pathophysiology (3)
  • BIOL 376 Pathophysiology II (3)
  • HLSC 305 Health Informatics (3) 

Health Science Electives (9 Credit Hours)

Choose Three of the Following:

  • BIOL 305 Human Genetics (3) 
  • EXSC 336 Principles of Strength and Conditioning (3)
  • EXSC 333 Motor Learning (3)
  • HLSC 330 Human Body: Structure & Function (3)
  • HLSC 331 Nutrition & Health (3)
  • HLAD 406 Legal Issues in Healthcare (3)
  • PSYC 363 Abnormal Psychology (3)
