Religious Life

Worship Services

Praise. Worship. Community.

Chapel

The Muskingum Community gathers in the Chapel every Thursday during the 11:00 a.m. Common Hour for Community Worship. This short, informal, and meaningful service uses a variety of traditions and expressions to worship God. Students, faculty, and staff participate. Lunch is provided after the service.

Everyone is welcome!

Believe it, or Not

This is a new initiative meets on Tuesdays at 11:30 in Brown Chapel to explore diverse Spiritual Practices and Religious Ideas in hopes of inspiring religious inquiry and growth for students who aren't sure what they believe or what tradition they fit into best. All are welcome, including those who are already deeply grounded in a tradition.

During our period of Off Campus Instruction written summaries and prompts may be found on the "Resources " tab of the Religious Life page.

Roman Catholic Services

Father Donald Franks offers Roman Catholic Mass which is held in the Chess Center, Room 304, on Sundays at 1:00 p.m. during the academic year.

Fr. Franks can be reached by calling (740) 754-2221.

The Catholic Student Organization is a group of students organized to provide leadership for Roman Catholic students. They arrange for studies, retreats, and social events.

Jewish Services

Unfortunately the congregation Beth Abraham in Zanesville has closed. Our Jewish students are invited to gather on campus as they are able as we explore developing a new interfaith worship space on campus.

Please reach out to our Chaplains if you need help connecting with the Jewish community on campus.

Local Churches

The Village of New Concord churches welcome students' participation. Within walking distance are Presbyterian, United Methodist, Southern Baptist, Church of Christ and Independent Baptist. In nearby Cambridge are Episcopalian, Lutheran, Assembly of God, Orthodox, Pentecostal, and places of worship. We encourage students to integrate into the local community for Sunday morning worship.
