Medical Laboratory Studies (MLT-MLS Career Pathway)

Muskingum University’s Medical Laboratory Studies major is designed for certified Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) who hold an Associate of Science (AS) degree in medical laboratory technology and wish to earn a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.

This fully online, asynchronous program builds upon your prior coursework and certification to help you qualify for the Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) exam through the ASCP Route 2 pathway. Often called the MLT-to-MLS Career Pathway, the major offers a strong academic foundation in biology and chemistry and prepares students for advancement into medical laboratory science or graduate-level health programs.

  • Choice of: HLSC 304 – Statistics for the Health Sciences (3) or HLSC 305 – Health Informatics (3)
