A New Name, A Continued Commitment: Graduate and Adult Learning
Muskingum University is excited to share that the Graduate and Continuing Studies department has been renamed Graduate and Adult Learning. This new name reflects the University’s mission of serving the continuum of learners, meeting students where they are in life, and providing flexible, accessible opportunities for growth.
All Graduate and Adult Learning programs are offered online, with the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) and the Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) programs delivered in a hybrid format that combines online coursework with on-site learning experiences. These programs provide opportunities for adults to complete their bachelor’s degree, pursue master’s or doctoral degrees, and gain credentials that support both personal development and career growth.

Programs include the Master of Business Administration; Master and Doctor of Organizational Leadership; Master of Occupational Therapy; Master of Arts in Teaching, for aspiring teachers; Master of Arts in Education, for licensed teachers; and the adult bachelor’s degree completion program with majors in allied health, business, and education.
Along with the new name, Muskingum has redesigned the Graduate and Adult Learning web pages to create a more student-focused and user-friendly experience. The updated site offers clear navigation, streamlined program details, and easy access to resources that guide students through every step of their academic journey.
“Our transition from Graduate and Continuing Studies to Graduate and Adult Learning reflects more than a name change; it reflects who we serve. By emphasizing adult learning in our name, we are making it clear that Muskingum is a place where working professionals, career changers, and lifelong learners can find programs built around their goals and their lives,” said Bonnie Callahan, associate vice president of graduate and adult learning. “At the same time, we are updating our website to directly address the questions adults ask when searching for a program. This shift strengthens our brand and ensures we meet adult students where they are, helping them quickly find the information they need to take their next step with confidence.”
With these updates, Muskingum reaffirms its dedication to preparing learners at every stage, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in their careers and communities.
