Learning Objectives

  1. Students will organize, clean, and manage data using best practices in Microsoft Excel.
  2. Students will calculate and interpret descriptive statistics, including measures of central tendency and dispersion.
  3. Students will create and refine data visualizations such as bar charts, pie charts, boxplots, and line graphs.
  4. Students will perform and interpret inferential statistical tests including ANOVA, T-tests, chi-square tests, and basic regressions.
  5. Students will communicate statistical findings through written reports and verbal presentations, culminating in a research poster.

Statistical literacy and basic data analysis are among the most sought-after competencies in today's job market.

According to O-Net, 75 percent of data-related job titles are marked as having a "Bright Outlook." Even for roles not centered on analytics, statistical fluency gives students a competitive edge in government, administration, law enforcement, and nonprofit sectors.
