About Statistics in Excel
Muskingum University’s Statistics in Excel micro-credential equips undergraduate students with practical, job-ready skills in statistical analysis and data presentation using Microsoft Excel. This micro-credential provides a strong foundation in applied statistics for students pursuing careers in law enforcement, government, non-profits, and research-focused roles.
The micro-credential is structured around the skill areas of Data Management, Descriptive Statistics, Inferential Statistics, Data Visualization, and Data Presentation. Students will receive a digital badge upon completion of each module.
- Data Management – Learn how to create a dataset, demonstrate an understanding of using MS Excel and develop knowledge for making appropriate decisions in building and managing datasets.
- Descriptive Statistics – Master how to estimate and interpret measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion of data.
- Inferential Statistics – Use Excel to estimate and interpret chi-square, t-test, ANOVA, bivariate regression and multiple regression statistical results.
- Data Visualization – Create and interpret line graphs, pie charts, boxplots, bar graphs, and other graphs to visualize data, including the relationship between variables.
- Data Presentation – Communicate statistical research and analysis in both verbal and written form through the completion of a project resulting in a research poster presentation and written research analysis.
Students must complete all five modules to earn the micro-credential, which is signified with a digital “super badge”.
