Walter Fellows Program
The mission of the Walter Fellows Program is to develop in students a deep understanding of intercultural humanitarian issues in the world through guided academic programming, professional networking and field experiences.
ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS OF THE PROGRAM
Education: Building the fundamental knowledge and awareness of the power and complexities of problems of social justice, humanitarian concerns, and cultural difference.
Empowerment: Nurturing connections between students who share a passion for humanitarian issues, education and developing professional networks with advanced Fellows, alumni, and mentors whose accomplishments provide role models for global impact.
Engagement: encouraging deeper exploration of cultural engagement opportunities to positively influence change and developing a sense of efficacy in leading this change.
GOALS OF THE PROGRAM
- Gain a greater understanding of a problem in the changing world and their ability to have an impact and make a difference in addressing that problem.
- Engage in building awareness about a particular issue and foster understanding among others in their local, regional and national communities.
- Build networks with cohort peers, advisors, alumni and mentors to facilitate cohort projects that will impact the campus community and beyond.
- Have a funded high-impact learning opportunity (up to $4000) that connects to your unique passion
- Have unique, fully funded experiences with non-profits, non-governmental organizations, and governmental organizations with your cohort of fellows.
- Engage in mentorship and leadership by working with fellows in the program
