Muskingum University’s Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, Christmas Festival Orchestra, and organist Rebecca Abbott, led the community in song during its annual Christmas Festival celebration on Saturday, December 7, at Brown Chapel. Led by Interim Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities Timothy Sarsany, the evening featured choral and instrumental music, poetry, scripture, candlelight, and seasonal carols. The free performance was centered around theme “From Darkness to Light.”

In the tradition of the University’s Vespers, the event featured works by Tomas Luis de Victoria, Max Janowski, Sergei Rachmaninoff, J.S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, and Eric Whitacre. During the Festival the audience also joined the performers in singing a number of holiday favorite songs. All good-will offerings collected during the evening helped support the New Concord Food Pantry.

An encore performance of the Christmas Festival took place on Sunday, December 8, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Columbus.
