Campus community kicks off the holiday season
Food Pantry

Muskingum students, faculty, and staff celebrated the season together with holiday traditions, music, and serving others, including the following:

— The third annual Campus Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Quad included carol singing, cookies, and hot cocoa.

— Faculty and staff served the traditional Late Night Breakfast to our students at the beginning of finals week.

— Muskies who are completing their degree in December 2017 were recognized with a ceremony and reception congratulating them on their achievements and welcoming them to the Long Magenta Line.

— Director of the Library Dr. Nainsi Houston, library staff, and student workers decked the halls of the library with a Muskie tree, a black and magenta tree, and a magenta and black tree

— Muskingum students and faculty performed in four seasonal concerts this year, including Handel’s Messiah presented by the University Choirs and SEOSO; Home for the Holidays with the Wind Ensemble, Chamber Singers, and faculty guest artists; The traditional Advent-Christmas Vespers “Love is Still Appearing” featuring the Concert Choir; and Holiday Pops presented by SEOSO.

— For the 28th year, Muskingum’s Christmas on Campus project matched individuals and organization as sponsors with local children to help make their holidays brighter.

— The Thetas, the Stags, and Lambda Sigma worked with the College Drive Presbyterian Food Pantry to provide Christmas dinner food boxes for New Concord area residents.

— The Women’s Basketball Team’s sixteenth annual Love Fund project arranged Secret Santa matches for children in the local community. Through the Love Fund project, our students, faculty, and staff join in partnership with local churches, individuals, and community organizations in a gift program that reaches 500 children annually, providing them with the only Christmas gifts they will receive.

— Chi Alpha Nu sponsored a Parent’s Night Out, hosting local children for an evening of pizza, fun, and games and giving their parents a chance to get ready for Christmas.

— The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Greek Affairs co-sponsored a Hoops for Hunger food drive to benefit the Food Pantry at College Drive Presbyterian Church.
