Gallery exhibit highlights Lanzhou partnership
art

Muskingum’s Palmer Gallery recently showcased “Inspiration in Art Education,” featuring 120 artworks by high school students in Lanzhou, China and southeastern Ohio.  The works included sculpture, ceramics, photography, painting, drawing, mixed media, and crafts.

The University’s Ruth Dorsey Neptune Distinguished Professor of Fine Arts Yan Sun curated the exhibit through his work with art educators in both countries.

Building on Muskingum’s longstanding Lanzhou partnership for student and faculty exchanges, Professor Sun visited multiple Lanzhou high schools, lecturing on American art education and presenting painting workshops for educators and students.

Working with Ohio art teachers, Professor Sun selected works by students from John Glenn High School, Newark High School, Caldwell High School and Zanesville High School.

During Muskingum’s Reunion Weekend @ Homecoming, many visiting alumni had the opportunity to tour the exhibit, including members of the Class of 1968, whose Golden 50th Reunion reception was hosted in Palmer Gallery.

The exhibit ran throughout the month of October.
