The Muskingum University Department of Music will host a faculty recital with Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Rianne Gebhardt, mezzo-soprano, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, held in Brown Chapel. Harsha Abeyaratne, piano and associate professor of music, will accompany Dr. Gebhardt. The performance is free and open to the public.
The chosen repertoire spans the life of the vocal genre of artsong, from Baroque to the 21st century. It will attempt to move the listener's through time, starting with ground bass accompaniment elements of Purcell's baroque style and finishing with the contemporary musical elements of Heggie's Paper Wings.
This is Dr. Gebhardt’s first year as a member of the Muskingum University faculty. She instructs applied voice, diction, vocal pedagogy and the musical theatre ensemble.
