Mr. McCalmont has a distinguished legacy of entrepreneurial and technological achievements, and a deep commitment to creating a more energy efficient future for our world. Mr. McCalmont has earned 13 U.S. patents, pioneering innovative methods of applying new technologies.

A native of Iowa, Mr. McCalmont graduated from Muskingum in 1976 with a bachelor of science in physics. He earned a master of science degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University, and completed the AEA/Stanford Executive MBA program. He is one of fewer than 150 people in North America to have passed the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners’ training and certification process.

Mr. McCalmont co-founded REgrid Power in 2002, to advance environmentally-friendly means of power generation that conserve our natural resources and strengthen our economic landscape. Serving as chief executive officer and president, he has led the company to its position as one of California’s most respected solar power companies, designing and installing solar energy systems throughout the San Francisco Bay area.

He has been at the forefront of creating industry-wide performance and installation standards for solar energy, leading the formation of the trade association Solartech and its efforts to reduce barriers to the widespread adoption of solar power.

Mr. McCalmont also has devoted his time, energy and talents to helping his neighbors in need, through REgrid Power’s project sponsorship with Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley.

Prior to establishing REgrid Power, Mr. McCalmont founded and served as chief executive officer of Nuasis Corporation – now Intervoice Corporation – a company delivering next generation customer contact solutions. He also served as vice president and general manager of the Computer-Telephony Products Division of Aspect Software.

Mr. McCalmont and his wife Darlene, REgrid’s co-founder and vice president, reside in San Jose, California. They are the parents of Stacey and Aaron.
