TESOL endorsement available in three Ohio locations as a part of Summer Term
Library

Muskingum University is offering the TESOL program (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) as a part of this year’s summer term curriculum in three Ohio locations. Beginning in June, classes will be offered in Cleveland, Columbus and Orville. The intensive program combines online learning with face-to-face meetings. Those taking the classes will also have an opportunity to work directly with ELL students.

The TESOL endorsement is ideal for licensed teachers who want to teach English Language Learner (ELL) students, and enrolling in the seven-week program means that teachers will earn the endorsement in time for the new school year in the fall. In addition, the course will prepare teachers for their PRAXIS II examination and the hours earned for the endorsement can be applied toward work on a master’s degree.

The TESOL offering was created in order to address the growing need for those qualified to teach ELL students, of which there are estimated to be more than 35,000 in Ohio. The program is also excellent for those working with non-English speaking individuals in business, private schools, government agencies and other work environments.
