Quarantine Diaries Featured in The Columbus Dispatch
Quarantine Diaries Featured in The Columbus Dispatch

Working remotely during the Spring semester, The Muskie Press published The Quarantine Diaries: the Muskie View on COVID-19.  The 64-page PDF book featured submissions from students, faculty, staff, and alumni chronicling their COVID-19 experiences and perspectives.

The Columbus Dispatch featured the Quarantines Diaries in its coverage of how universities are documenting life during the pandemic.

Muskie Press editors Sidney Martin ‘21 and Nerissa Smith ’21 and Professor of English Dr. Jane Varley are quoted in the Dispatch article, which wonderfully captures the details of the book.

An excerpt from the news story:

"In addition to working on the editorial board, Smith and Martin also contributed their own work. In one of her pieces, Martin documents her new quarantine routine, or lack thereof. In the other, she reflects on the emptiness she felt during her drive from campus back to her home in North Carolina.

“I was shocked that everything was standing still — that’s never happened before,” Martin said. “It was so different than anything we had ever experienced before, and I wanted to put it on paper.”
