A Letter from President Sue Hasseler

The HWC project has begun! If you have been on campus in the past couple of weeks you will have noted that large machines are beginning to reshape roads and other spaces on the West Hill as we move forward with the Health and Wellness Complex project. Construction crews have removed the grandstand in preparation for the new integrated stadium, academic corridor and indoor fieldhouse facility. The original stadium, which was state of the art when it opened in 1926, served the Muskingum and New Concord communities well for close to 100 years, hosting some amazing collegiate and high school competitions and creating many fond memories for athletes and fans. We are eager to honor that history through a display in the new facility while also looking forward with great excitement to the many ways this transformational new complex will serve Muskingum University, area high schools, and the broader community for the next 100 years and beyond.

In the next few weeks, we will be working on creating two-way roads on the West Hill, developing alternative parking sites, relocating utilities and doing some extensive excavation to prepare the site for the new building construction. We will keep you apprised as the project moves forward.

Muskingum is on the move! Go Muskies!

Sue
