The Carlos Odria Trio will present a concert at 7 p.m. on March 22 on the campus of Muskingum University. “World Jazz Explorations,” held in Brown Chapel, is free and open to the public.
The program will include original compositions written by Carlos Odria, including arrangements of jazz standards and Latin American popular music. Consisting of upright bass, drums, percussion, and nylon string guitar, The Carlos Trio delivers a blend of international styles such as bossanova, Afro-Peruvian festejo, rumba flamenca and Cuban son. Odria draws inspiration from different Latin American genres, and the trio emphasizes the power of musical improvisation to establish a creative multicultural dialogue.
