John Edwards, a 2013 business major, says he “chose Muskingum for the class size and to play football, but the Debate Team is what motivated me through college.”

Since graduating, Edwards says, “I have been working for AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, a national service program. I have been touring the southern region of the United States for the past eight months working with nonprofit organizations. I am currently in Pensacola, Florida, working with Be Ready Alliance Coordinating Emergencies.” Edwards was introduced to AmeriCorps by a friend from his hometown.

Edwards is especially thankful for the personal relationships he developed with his professors: “Rachel Pollock, for investing in me and helping build and develop my communication and public speaking skills.” He also credits Professor Gary Golden with his business knowledge, which has allowed him to take advantage of opportunities in his work environment.

Edwards advises seniors to “research and apply to programs before you graduate that will launch you into your career path. Build experience in the field that you enjoy.”
