Letter from the Provost
Greetings Muskies,
I hope that you are now settled back at home or an alternate location for the next few weeks. The move to online instruction continues as a preventive measure as directed by Ohio Governor DeWine. Please be assured that there are no known cases of coronavirus or cases under investigation on the Muskingum University campus.
The faculty, staff, and administration at Muskingum University are hard at work putting together resources to provide the support you need to be successful in your courses, and to keep connected with your Muskie Family. I have some important information to share in the points below.
Expanding Blackboard for Online Instruction
- Instruction is continuing online beginning 3/16/2020 with a return to campus-based instruction scheduled for Monday 4/13/2020.
- You are expected to keep up with all assignments posted by your instructors, as they are part of your course grade. Please check your email and Blackboard regularly, preferably daily.
- For any of your courses that were already on Blackboard, you will log in just as you have been doing all semester.
- If any course is not appearing, the first course of action is to email the instructor to let them know you are not seeing the course.
- If the instructor is not able to resolve the issue, then please email studenthelp@muskingum.edu to seek help in accessing the course.
- If you need help with Blackboard, there are a number of online resources available to you in the Student Online Toolbox. Look for this Toolbox among the list of your courses in Blackboard. Once in the Student Online Toolbox, you can sign up for a 1:1 session for individualized help from our Blackboard experts, if you need additional help.
Supports
- Spectrum WiFi and broadband are being offered free to new users in households with college students. This may be a great support for you and your family! Look for details at Free Access to Spectrum Broadband.
- All of our regular campus support offices are open with staff ready to provide help. This includes the Counseling Center, Wellness Center, Student Affairs Offices, Academic Supports through the Provost’s Office, Library, and Career Center. You can reach these offices through the email links on the Muskingum website, or by calling the office numbers.
- The studenthelp@muskingum.edu email address can be used for any type of problem you may encounter. Send an email and we will get the right person responding to you!
During this time of uncertainty and changing situations, your continued health and success are our highest priorities. Despite the many uncertainties, we are certain that you will be resilient in meeting this challenge and coming through stronger than ever – that’s what Muskies do!!
With best wishes for success in the weeks ahead,
Dr. Nancy Evangelista, Provost
