High Impact Experiences/Internships

High Impact Experiences and internships demand considerable time and effort, facilitates learning outside of the classroom, requires meaningful interactions with industry, faculty and community, encourages collaboration with diverse others, and provides frequent and substantive evaluation and assessment.

High Impact Experiences

Athletics

The Impact Center facilitated the collaboration of the Muskingum football leadership council and Attiteam, LLC, to enhance their team-building and mentorship abilities. They focused on increasing awareness and empathy to support the mental and emotional well-being of student athletes.

Arts and Culture

Thanks to the generosity of alumnus John Gardner 68' and his wife, Therese, the Impact Center and the Theatre Department worked together to coordinate a student trip to the Stratford Festival, North America's largest classical repertory theatre company. Eight Muskingum students will have the opportunity to experience a world-renowned theatre festival. The trip will take place August 19-24, 2024. We hope to continue this amazing opportunity every year!

High Impact Learning in the Classroom

Assistant Professor of Public Health, Kristen Debois, utilized Impact Center support services to embed high impact experiential learning into the classroom. A project was designed to teach students how non-profit community agencies plan and budget health promotion initiatives. It was based on a "pay it forward" model for community-engaged learning. Groups of students partnered with a local community agency and developed a health promotion program that involved a health education component where a good and/or service is delivered to clients of that agency. A panel of judges selected one project and the sponsor of the project, Muskingum Valley Health Centers, provided the funding to bring the project to life.
