PROGRAM OVERVIEW & LICENSURE FOCUS (100% ONLINE)

  • Post-graduate licensure program for current educational leaders
  • 12 credit hours of professional coursework
  • Internship experience (4 credits) integrated into the program 
  • Designed for candidates who meet Ohio’s requirements (existing principal/admin license + leadership experience) 
  • Coursework covers district leadership, communication, resource management, and organizational development

Professional Coursework (12 Credit Hours)

  • EDUC 850 Leading the District (3) 
  • EDUC 855 Communications and Advocacy (3) 
  • EDUC 857 Leading for Learning (3) 
  • EDUC 859 Managing Resources (3) 

Internship Courses (4 Credit Hours)

  • EDUC 865 Internship: The Superintendent in Action (4) — for candidates who already completed an Administrative Specialist Licensure
  • EDUC 866 Internship: The Superintendent in Action (4) — for those who have not completed an Administrative Specialist Licensure 

To exit the program, candidates must document two additional years of successful educational leadership experience in a position requiring a principal’s or administrative specialist license.

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH A SUPERINTENDENT LICENSE?

Holding a Superintendent Licensure will qualify you for district leadership roles such as:

  • Superintendent or co-superintendent of a school district
  • Executive leadership in curriculum, instruction, or operations at the district level
  • Chief academic officer or assistant superintendent
  • Director roles in specialized departments (e.g. curriculum, assessment, special programs)
  • Serve as a visionary leader shaping policy, strategy, and culture across multiple schools
