Sports Communication

About Sports Communication

The Sports Communication program at Muskingum, which is the first of its kind in the region, responds to the need for qualified communication professionals in the sports industry.

The innovative program provides hands-on learning in an NCAA Division III athletics environment and familiarizes students with diverse aspects of athletics communication, including sports journalism, promotion and publicity, sports leadership, broadcast production and performance, social media, and sports media relations. Students are well prepared to attain internships with a number of sports organizations during their Muskie tenure and graduate as highly-qualified candidates for positions in professional, collegiate and amateur sports.

Through classroom study, student-faculty research, special guest athletics communication speakers and numerous practicum opportunities, students experience firsthand the global reach and power of sports.
