Your academic advisor can help you:

  • Plan your course schedule around work and personal commitments
  • Understand program requirements and degree completion timelines
  • Review transfer credits and remaining coursework
  • Address academic concerns and connect you with campus resources
When to contact your advisor

You are encouraged to contact your advisor:

  • Before registering for classes each session
  • If you are unsure which courses to take next
  • When balancing coursework with work or family responsibilities
  • If you are experiencing academic challenges
  • As you prepare to apply for graduation

Early communication helps prevent delays in degree progress.

Preparing for an advising conversation

To make the most of your advising appointment:

  • Review your degree requirements and program plan
  • Have a list of courses you are considering
  • Note any questions about scheduling, workload, or pacing
  • Be ready to discuss work and life commitments that may impact your course load
Advising and registration

While students register for classes through MuskieLink, advisors play an important role in helping you:

  • Understand session sequencing
  • Avoid unnecessary delays in graduation

Always confirm with your advisor that you are registering for the right classes before submitting your schedule.
