Doris Riggle, 97, of Washington, formerly Houston, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 30, 2024, in Premiere Washington Health Center. She was born, January 12, 1928, in Chartiers Township, a daughter of the late Ralph and Wilma McConnell Paxton. Doris was a 1945 graduate of Chartiers High School. Following high school, she attended Muskingham College. On December 21, 1951, she married John H. Riggle, who died June 1, 2013. Mrs. Riggle worked briefly for Hardy and Rankin in Canonsburg before starting her family. Once her children were out of school, she completed her education at California University of Pennsylvania, receiving her Bachelor's degree in Education. She then worked in the Chartiers-Houston School District as a substitute teacher and administrative aide. Doris was a lifelong member of First United Presbyterian Church in Houston. Surviving are a son, Jay Riggle and wife Cathy of Erie; a daughter, Lynn Riggle of Mercer; four grandchildren, Amy Carlisle (Ryan), Emily Neal (Ryan), Mark Riggle (Jessica), and Eli Blasko (Lydia); eight great- grandchildren, Alice and Penny Carlisle, Griffin Potts, Baylon and Vivienne Neal, Henry and Theo Riggle, and Rowan Blasko; two sisters, Marjorie Meneely and Isabelle Alderson, both of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
