M. Pauline "Polly" McCoy, Class of 1950
Mary Pauline (Polly) McCoy, age 96, passed away on April 1, 2025. She was born to the late Thomas A. Coleman and Lena Weinert in Versailles Borough, Pennsylvania on August 25, 1928. Polly was preceded in death by her husband, David Crawford McCoy; sisters, Hazel Moore, Jean Taylor, and Constance Combs; and brothers, Thomas Coleman, Jr., Wendall Coleman, and Don Coleman. Polly graduated from McKeesport High School in McKeesport, Pennsylvania before attending Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. She majored in Biology, became a member of the Kianu Sorority, and graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Education. At Muskingum College, Polly met her sweetheart, David Crawford McCoy, and they married in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on December 27, 1952. While Dave was in the Air Force, they lived at the Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan, and McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington. Upon discharge they lived in Blissfield, Jackson, Charlotte, and East Grand Rapids, before spending the last 15 years at Beacon Hill at Eastgate. Polly taught in military and public schools in Pennsylvania, Washington, Ohio, and Michigan before retiring to raise their five children. She was active in the East Congregational Church for many years and a leader in the Joy Guild. Polly was a loving and faithful wife, an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her children, Kristen (Paul) Koning of Centerton, Arkansas; Beth (Rick) Cooler of Bluffton, South Carolina; Todd (Alice) McCoy of Bluffton, South Carolina; Amy McCoy of Bluffton, South Carolina; and Scott (Kim) McCoy of Pleasanton, California; 10 grandchildren, Derek (Corie) Koning of Centerton; Arkansas, Devon (Shannon) Koning of Rogers, Arkansas; Brent (Jason) Cooler of Greenville, South Carolina; Brandon (Kate) Cooler of Bluffton, South Carolina; Chris Dal Bianco of Recife, Brazil; Gabi (Mauricio) Dal Bianco of Sao Paulo, Brazil; Felipe Dal Bianco of Recife, Brazil; Ella, Lily and Kate McCoy of Pleasanton, California; 6 great-grandchildren, Micah and Melanie Koning of Centerton, Arkansas; Bryce Cooler of Bluffton, South Carolina; and Maria, Bruno, and Otto Mantovani of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
