Minute with a Muskie

Mallory Fischer

Mallory Fischer, from Bridgeport, Ohio, will be a sophomore this fall. A music education major also studying theatre, Mallory was drawn to Muskingum because of her experiences at the Music Theatre CAMP help on Muskingum’s campus each summer.

One of the benefits of being a member of a small, liberal arts community is the opportunity to get involved on campus right away as a freshman. For Mallory, this held true. In addition to being a member of the concert choir, women’s chorus and Musical Theatre Ensemble, she was also in the play “Almost Maine” during her first semester and played a part in the musical “Company” during the spring semester!

Mallory’s summer job lines up with her major and interests. She is a company member at The Huron Playhouse. She auditioned alongside hundreds of other undergrad musical theatre students. She was in the ensemble for “The Producers” and “Camelot” earlier this summer. She is currently cast as Sister Amnesia in “Nunsensations! The Nunsense Vegas Revue.”

After her first year as a Muskie, Mallory reflected on her experiences: “I absolutely love the music faculty. I have made some pretty spectacular relationships here so far, and I'm very happy. I love my voice teacher, Dr. Olga Perez-Flora, and all of the faculty believes in me so much.  For that, I will always be thankful.

“I never anticipated that I would become an education major. I knew I wanted to do something with music, but it was the faculty that convinced me that I could be good at teaching. Things in college are unexpected and exciting, but I like it that way.”
