Kaminski-Strum says, “The biggest thing I gained [at Muskingum] (outside knowledge) was a really great network of friends and faculty that I can still call upon today. My Muskingum friends have really become family, and I love that! I also really appreciate that I can still call up faculty when I have questions or concerns, or when I want to have lunch because we're in the area – you really don't get that experience everywhere!”
Christy Kaminski-Strum, ’06, majored in business and theatre. She chose Muskingum because the new theatre building, Caldwell Hall, was under construction and scheduled to be completed in time for her freshman year. (She adds, “It was Sophomore year for me, but who's counting!”) She also wanted to attend a smaller school. She says, “I ended up staying at Muskingum because the faculty was absolutely top notch!”
Following graduation, Christy worked in Park National Bank’s Management Associate Program, but she soon moved to Pittsburgh (with husband and fellow Muskie, Nate Strum), where she earned a graduate degree in business and gained experience working for some startups. She is now back in central Ohio and back at Park National Bank in the institution’s operational area.
Although Kaminski-Strum never expected to travel abroad in college, she joined a faculty-led trip to Greece and London; she counts it among her favorite experiences as a student. She also interned at Ballet Met’s costume shop [in Columbus].
Kaminski-Strum is thankful for “the Economics, Accounting and Business Department, as well as Ron Lauck in the theatre department. They have really given me not only marketable skills and practical knowledge, but most importantly the confidence to succeed.”
